Personal Information Manager Module (PIM)
Employee related information such as personal information, detailed qualifications and work experience, etc is stored in this module. The module also eliminates data redundancy across different components
Employee Self Service Module
The personal information of the employees can be updated by the employees themselves. The web interface is intuitive and the HR department will be saving their precious time by allowing the employees to do this themselves.
Leave & Holidays module
Orange allows to set the holidays for the year and will be published to the employees. The module helps the HR person to create different types of leave as per the company policy. The main advantage of this module is the single view about the summary of all employees in one screen. The leave request process is available with the automated workflow.
Time & Attendance Module
This module of OrangeHRM manages the data of the attendance of each employee. The module also records the activities of the employees with time taken for each activity. The module is really beneficial for taking reports in the companies where the timesheet needs to be sent to the client.
Employee Benefit Module
The module is to manage the benefit related tasks of employees in an organization. This will be mainly for Health Savings Plan. The benefits to employees happens in different ways ranging from individual to designation wise.
Recruitment Module
The entire recruitment process of the organization can be handled with this module. The process is made simple and easier. The module contains the features like listing out the current vacancies, adding different pay scales, adding employment status and also selecting hiring managers for the vacancies.
Administration Module
The heart of the system is the administration module. This module has to be executed first before any other activities while implementing OrangeHRM. The company structure has to be defined first. All the other configurations such as locations, pay grades, adding default values to the above mentioned modules happens through administration. The projects and activities needed for the time recording system is defined with the administration module.
Reporting Module
Any enterprise solutions strength rely on its reporting capabilities so as to generate the matrices for analysis. With Orange, the reports can be generated based on a range of search criteria and report fields. The report definition can be saved for future searches and generated according to the required criteria.
Other normal features like email notifications are available by default.
Technology
OrangeHRM is developed with PHP as the server side scripting language and MySQL as the database. The performance of the software is also commendable.
Security
With the stable version of 2.5 series, Orange is stable and secure enough for an organization to adapt the latest version. Potential SQL injection vulnerability with ess login, Vulnerability to XSS by ESS module, Possible CSRF and PHP code injection, XSS vulnerability with non-sanitized AJAX responses etc has been fixed in the 2.5 series.
